Community Enterprises Development Organization Seeds: Your Trusted Bean Seeds Supplier Since 2000
Overview
Located in Kalisizo Town Council – Kyotera District (Central Uganda), CEDO Seeds is the business arm of CEDO that engages in production, multiplication, and marketing of bean seeds and grain.
CEDO Seeds has partnered with NARO and PABRA for over 10 years to enhance the bean seed system in Uganda. On average, CEDO produces 250 MT of certified seed in a single season for 14 bean varieties. CEDO evolved into a registered seed company in 2010 and has since provided tailored technologies that focus on reducing men and women’s time in production through Information Technology (IT) inclusion. We build capacity through engagement in markets and Village Saving and Loan associations.

Production Capacity
At CEDO, we have a storage facility with a total capacity of 100 MT, a grain cleaner with a capacity of 3 MT processed per hour, and a bean seed processing facility.
CEDO Seeds operates through a network of 64 Village Enterprise Agents (VEAs) reaching out to over 3,000 farmers organized in 100 Rural Producer Organizations (RPOs), with the annual traded volumes of beans estimated at 180 MT. The VEAs provide extension services such as training on Good Agronomic Practices (GAPs) and Good Postharvest Handling Practices (GPHH), input access and bulking services to the farmers engaged by CEDO Seeds. In addition, we also at times provide quality bean seeds to farmers under a pre-financing arrangement with the payments made at harvest time.
CEDO is a Ugandan Company with expertise in the production, multiplication, and marketing of bean seeds and grain since 2010. We have a long tradition of supplying the finest and highest yielding seed varieties to both large and small scale farmers across the country. Our team consists of trained staff, whose invaluable knowledge and expertise allow us to better serve you. Every CEDO Seeds team member shares a common goal – a commitment to your success.
